MP backs rail campaign

As reported in The Courier, Stephen Gethins MP has stated his support for the campaign, saying,

St Andrews is hugely important to the economy of Fife and Scotland and local people and visitors alike should have access to the best possible transport links available. The case for the reinstatement of the rail link to St Andrews is compelling and I welcome the news that it has been included in the Tay Cities’ Deal supported by the Scottish Government. I also commend the hard work of those involved in the StARLink campaign and support their aim of making St Andrews and the surrounding area, including the East Neuk, a better place to live, work and visit.'

StARLink convenor Jane Ann Liston welcomed the MP's support, saying,

'Although rail is a devolved matter, because the Tay Cities' Deal will be requesting money from both the Scottish and UK parliaments, the support of our MP is very important. Added to the backing of Willie Rennie MSP as well as list MSPs Mark Ruskell, Claire Baker and Dean Lockhart gives the proposal a cross-party endorsement which greatly increases its chance of success.'
