The
consultant has almost completed the route
optimisation for the new line. In addition, a
passenger forecast and timetable are being worked up,
with the assistance of the St Andrews tourism data
for the past 12 months. This is the first time in
many years that information pertaining to St Andrews
as opposed to the whole of Fife has been collected.
Recent reports have predicted that golf tourism is likely to expand considerably over the next few years, leading the way out of the recession:
